A Paw Patrol Car Set That Keeps Kids Going Through a Session

Hi, it's Nicole coming in from the NYU Motor Speech Lab, and today I'm going to share with you two of the toys that I use to keep my kiddos' attention for the duration of our sessions, which is 45 minutes, while really getting a lot of productions per session: in the area of 250 productions per session.

One of the things I love: I'm working with that toddler range, and Paw Patrol is really popular. So I have this Paw Patrol car set that I got on Amazon, and I'll say, "Okay, we're going to work for all of the cars, and then we're going to get the tracks, and we're going to let them go on the tracks after."

So what I do is I have them identify which one they want first. "Okay, you want Chase first? Great." And then we do a block. The word we're going to work on is whatever the word is. Maybe it's "open," or, it depends on the kid, "magician." We work on a block, and then I'll say, "Okay, let's get him out." So we take him out. I grab the car, I let them hold it very quickly, and we place it on the table and park it.

Then I say, "Okay, now we're going to get his friends. Which one are we working for now?" Maybe we're working for Zuma. We do another block. Sometimes I can get two blocks done. I go through every car, I have them all parked, then we'll earn a track, a couple of tracks, and then 45 minutes is up.
