Three Reinforcers for Motor Speech Sessions
Sticker-by-number pages, a dartboard and beanbag toss, and a magnetic fishing game: quick play between focused practice blocks.

Hi, it's Nicole coming in from the NYU Motor Speech Lab. It's Friday, and I wanted to share what I've been using with my kiddos during motor speech sessions to keep them going. These are the three things I've been using a lot with this cohort.
The first one: I think I've said before how much we love stickers. These are sticker-by-number books, and Paw Patrol is a highly sought-after item. The kids can request which number they want, and here are the stickers. For every sticker, maybe we do a block or two, and then we have a completed page afterward, which is awesome. It keeps them going, and we have a finished product.
Another thing my older kid has been liking a lot, if you've seen these before, is a dartboard, and the back is a beanbag toss. It comes with everything you need. In between blocks, we take turns seeing who gets the most points, and it's really been keeping him going. We do four target words, we do all the blocks, and then we play a quick round, so we usually get three rounds.
And lastly, what's been super fun is fishing. This little fishing game has a magnetic rod and little fishies, and it comes with a net. We just take turns between blocks doing something fun.
The key is that when we're focused and working on a block, they're able to look at me. Then when we're in our reset, doing our reinforcement or our play, we do it quickly, and then we come back to focused blocks. I hope that helps. Share what works for you.
